Dr. Marvin Jones

Having begun ministry at age twenty-one, Marvin has worked with churches his entire adult life. Now, at age sixty-three, he has forty-two years of ministry experience, including serving as President of Montana Christian College, pastoring multi-staff churches, serving on SBC committees, associational and convention leadership, and short-term missions. During those years he has seen many people saved, lives transformed by the gospel, young men and women trained for ministry, and local churches revitalized and growing. In 2020, God called Marvin and Stacy to Montana to serve as President of Montana Christian College. Whether he served at Louisiana College for eight years or in Montana, he has always served churches as interim pastor, pastor, or pulpit supply.

As a result of that ministry, Marvin gained experience navigating not only convention relationships and partnerships but church relationships. He understands the delicate balance needed to cooperate with others to advance the gospel through local churches. His connections and ability to network gave him an advantage in leading and advancing the work through the Louisiana and Montana conventions and their churches.

Marvin has been a guest lecturer in the classroom at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the Liberty University Rawlings School of Divinity. He completed his Doctor of Theology in Church History in 2005, and completed a second Doctor of Philosophy in Systematic Theology in 2014. God has used Marvin to write five books and deliver lectures and sermons at many conferences, including Moscow, Russia; Oradea, Romania; Bennington; Denver; and Philadelphia. Most recently, Marvin was the main speaker at the Prophecy Conference at First Baptist Church, Gautier, Mississippi, in August 2025.

His strengths include interpersonal skills, networking, visionary leadership, team building, collaboration, preaching, and teaching. He enjoys collaborating with others and thinking strategically and creatively about engaging communities to reach lost people and make disciples. Working together and creating momentum and synergy that leads to a movement of God excites him, and he believes that nothing is greater than seeing souls saved and people growing in their faith. He is well-equipped for organizational and convention leadership, having served in various ministry contexts and provided leadership in churches, associations, state conventions, and other organizations.

Marvin is currently starting a new ministry called Christ, Faith, and Culture. This ministry will help inform churches of the need for a biblical worldview concerning contemporary topics. Two of the most recent topics presented at Dauphin Way Baptist Church were “Should Christians Participate in Politics” and “The Church’s Relationship with Israel.” That second presentation was also requested by Dr. Mark Ballard, President of Northeastern Baptist College in Bennington, Vermont, where Marvin presented to both faculty and students.

Marvin has a calling from God to continue training pastors, students, and anyone who answers the call of God to ministry. The goal is to lead Christians to honor the Lord by teaching that a Christian worldview is necessary to counter the secularism that is so prominent in America. He looks forward to working with churches, pastors, and staff to learn and adopt a biblical commitment to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
